Subject: I: MNR ASKS FOR PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN POACHING CASE
MEDIA ADVISORY
Sturgeon Falls – The Ministry of Natural Resources is looking for the
public’s assistance to help resolve a natural resource violation case
which resulted in the unlawful harvest of 15 moose.
The moose were poached in an approximate 6mi x 6mi radius just north of Field last fall. The unlawful activity was recently confirmed by DNA and other forensic analysis.
Moose that are unlawfully harvested affect the moose population as a whole in that area and have a direct effect on the number of adult validation tags issued to legal hunters.
Anyone who might have information pertaining to this poaching incident or any other natural resource violation are being asked to call the MNR TIPS line at 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667). Anyone with information who would like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
